Mary Pickford has lost) none of her , charm, as is witnessed by her undisput-. 1 ed prido of place in. overy popularity , contest. , The last huge one in 'U.S.A. < resulted in a poll for her of a million > and a-half votes. In "Girl of Yesterday," showing at the Empire to-night and to- i morrow the delectable Mary has a role ' which, gives every opportunity for the display of her indeiinable charm. The plot is a strong one but. it is varied by 4 some touches of light comedy which re- , lieves it. The plot fines down eventu- \ ally to a fight between Mary as the . heroine and a fashionable society girl < wondrously dressed, for the love df the handsome hero. It ends happily, of * Course, but r.ot before Mary has shed < some bitter tears, and things have looked 1 very 'btak. The Test of the cast is, i competent and good, and'the 'Famous ' Players' Studio is responsible for some. 4 unique effects in studio artistry. The 1 beautiful scenic gems. :_',,ii? i
