Tie jury in the inquest on Mrs. Elizabeth Annie Birch, a victim of tbe tram accident at Onehunga on May 20, found that she died of shock as the result of the accident; that it was" no part of the motorman's duties as defined in the company'a regulations, to look round to the back of the car when starting, but it had been the custom for some, years past j that the motorman' accidentally fell off the car while looking round, and that he would not have fallen had the controller handle been sufficiently close fitting.
