FOOTBALL.

HIGH SCHOOL v. OLD BOYS. A match was played on the racecourse on Saturday afternoon between.New Plymouth High School and a team representing the Old Boyg of the school. The school team won by 8 points to nil after a hard game. Mr. C. H. Wynward refereed. WAIMATE v. HIGH SCHOOL. Football has been very quiet in Taranaki since the outbreak of the war, owing to practically all of Taranaki's noted -exponents of the game having volunteered to do their bit on a wider field, and they are doing it well, as is evidenced by reports from the front. They have not forgotten how to play the game either, as occasional reports of matches show. The game in Taranaki is also being kept green by the younger generation, and on Saturday next residents of North Taranaki will have the opportunity of seeing a firstclass exhibition when the New Plymouth High School team meet the redoubtable Waimato cadets from South Taranaki, on the Recreation Ground,, and a keen contest may be anticipated. THE CADET FIXTURES. Owing to Waitara not yet having signified its intention of entering a team, and as there»is a probability that Stratford High School will also enter a team as well as the Stratford Cadets, it iias been decided to re-draw the fixtures, and commence the competition onvThuMday week.
