THE EMPIRE.
MAE MARSH AND BOBBIE HARfcON IN "THE WHARF RAT." A story of real life and real people is an honest description of "The Wharf Rat,' the Triangle "fine-arts film screening at the Empire to-night and to-mor-row. Mae Marsh is the heroine, and makes a charming "wharf rat" in a strange pair of trousers, a slouch hat with the frayed brim, and a pair of boy's shoes full of holes —worn sometimes. The story is a strong one, full of pathos, and has one outstanding sensational scene, where Mae Marsh dives off the deck of a large steamer. The love s,tory is good. Mac Marsh is being hunted for toy a legal firm, a,nd the clerk employed for the purpose ijmds the wrong couple and is discharged. In this plight he comes upon the heroine and her womanhating grandfather, making a struggling "living as musicians on the waterfront. Just here, as the Americans Bay, the plot thickens, and the story has a sweetly satisfactory conclusion. A new instalment" of "Gloria's Romance" opens 'to-day, entitled "The Mesh of Mystery." MARV PICKFORD. "THE GIRL OF YESTERDAY." On Wednesday and Thursday "the world's darling" will be featured in a Paramount star, "The Girl of Yesterday." a role in which the delectable Mary is said to even excell her characterisation of "Tess of the Storm Country." _
