ARTILLERY ACTIVITY.

FIGHTS IN THE AIR. (From Captain Malcolm Ross, N.Z. Representative with the N.Z. Forces at the Front.) June 1. Artillery activity prevails. Guns of varied calibre, trench mortars, and machine-guns are participating in certain sectors. The enemy has freely retailated. There is great air activity daily. Wc hear the constant droning of 'planes overhead, and witness thrilling combats at high altitudes. Occasionally we see balloons and 'planes 'brought down in flames. In all this fighting we are showing our superiority, Warm weather prevails, and has dried the ground and trenches. The peasants are working the land well within the zone of fire.
