DARING EOBBERY. j Austr-iliau-N.Z. Cable Association. ■ 'London, June 5. Thieves plundered Mappin and Webb's show-cases in the vestibule of the Carlton Hotel, securing valuables worth £15,000. CONVICTS CAUSE RIOT. New York, June 5. Eight hundred convicts caused a riot at Joliet, Illinois. Three companies of militia were called out, and a score Of convicts injured, whereupon the convicts set fire to the buildings, of which Ave were partly destroyed.
