BEEKEEPERS' CONFERENCE. By Telegraph.---Preas Association. Wellington, Laßt Night. At the fourth annual conference of the New Zealand Beekeepers' Association, Mr. Pope, secretary of the Department of Agriculture, said the industry had made, great strides in New Zealand, and was now on a far bettor footing than formerly. That, to a great extent, was owing to the fact of several of these conferences having taken place. Another factor was the work done b/f the Government through the Department of Agriculture. Regarding the future, the flint matter the Government had in view, which was likely to be brought into effect at an early date, was the registration of all apiaries.. .throughput New Zealand. The process would bo simple, and would greatly assist the Instructors in their work. Another matter the department had in mind was the establishment of a queen-rearing apiary, which would he located at Tauranga. The conference would be called upon to consider the question of looking after the bee farms of men who had gone to the front, and he was looking forward to a number of returned soldiers going bee-keeping, and a means would have to be found "to train them for tlte work. There was room for any number of bee-keepers in New-Zealand,, and it waß perfectly certain there would ue an ample market for all the honey we produce at thoroughly remunerative prices. The president said the past year had been a lean one, but he thought they had reached the limit of adverse conditions, the prospects for next seise n being better than for the- past, four years. ,- .
