THE SECOND DIVISION.
A REVISED CLASSIFICATION. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent). m,. ~ » Wellington, Last Night. The Defence authorities have produced a revised scheme of classification for tho Second Division. The now scheme has not yet been adopted by Cabinet 1 , but it is understood to have fhe approval of most of the Ministers, who have been impressed by tho protests against the obvious anomalies of the original classification. The grouping of the men with one child and two children, and the sesaration of those over 35 from those under ?") are to be abandoned. The members of the division are now to be classified according to the number of children, first those with one child, then those with two children, and so on. But men over 40 or 41 years of age are not? to be included in the general classification. They will form a class that will not be drawn upon unless necessity arises. The- elimination of the older reservists is in line, with tlis requirements of the military authorities, who prefer not to take men oyer forty years of age if younger men can be secured.
