EMPIRE SONG.
. (Abridged)'. Onward! Imperial Britannia! Earth shall be dark no more, Millions of men are waking On every sea and shore. (Vith the Flag of Freedom flying The Empire is mfirehing on;' The air rings with noise of battle | The field soon fought and won Forward! The world before us Listens to hear our tread, And the "God of Justice" o'er us Smiles blessings on our head, Britannia! Our floddess hovers Above the way we go; The shield of patience covers Our hearts from every foe. Forward! As near and nearer Oraw we to peace and restJoyous the light shines clearer tn every faithful breast. The "Him" lias ceased to bind us His chains are hurled away, The deepest gloom behind us Melts in the dawn of day. Crowns and thrones may perish, Kingdoms rise- and wane. But our "Ancient Empire" More glorious will remain. Onward, then, all people, ■Toin our happy throng; Blend as one vour voices In our triumphant song. —"JOE." New Plymouth, June 2.
