Part of the main road was washed away, and the township is partially isolated. Railway communication cannot be restored until the water recedes considerably. SUPREME COURT. Wellington, June 2. At the Supreme Court to-day ttio Chief Justice (Sir Robert Stout) placed Allan Wilford Wolfe, aged 18 years, oh probation for three years, and ordered him to Tepay £lO involved and also £5 costs of tho prosecution, Sydney Clarence M'Carty; aged 15 years, who was found guilty of carnal knowledge, was also placed on probation for three years and ordered to pay £1 a month for six months towards the costs of the prosecution.
