ALIEN ARRESTED.
♦ LADY DOCTOR INTERNED ON SOMES ISLAND. A quaint little figure, which arrested ."ttent-ion in the streets of Wellington, henceforth will he missed by citizens while the war is on (says (he Time*). This is due to the fact that the. little lady referred to, who would have passed for a bov easily were it not that she announced her sex by wearing one of the most characteristic garments of womau —a skirts—in addition to a blue serge iacket, cuffs, collar, and tie, topped with "a masculine hat, has been taken to Somes Island. Her name is Dr. von Danneville., and, in spite of the aristocratic "von" and its Teutonic sound, it is claimed that she is a Dane and not a German. At all events there is no doubt that the authorities gave orders for her arrest and internment on Somes f.land for the period of the war, She was taken to her island retreat by two detectives on Saturday. No reason has been given for the lady doctor's internment. ■ Dr von Danneville has been employed for some vears past at the Lahmann Health Home, Miraiiiar, and is a wide-ly-travelled person, with much ability in her profession. Dr Edith'Huntley, of the Lahmann Health Home,.states that, so far as she knew Dr Danneville s of Danish 'nationality, and that her work at thfc home was exceedingly valuable and highly appreciated. Dr von Danneville has been in the Dominion some six years, and is well spoken of by many people who have- met her.
