WAR PENSIONS BOARD.
SUMMARY OF WORK. . Wellington, May 28. A total of 194 claims were recoived by the War Pensions Board last week and 140 new claims and 232 renewals were dealt with. Of the new claims 89 were from soldiers and 51 from dependents. Of the renewals 148 were, in respect of soldiers' pensions and ®4 dependents' pensions. Eight soldiers were granted permanent pensions and 68 temporary, sis were declined and seven adjourned. ' Of tho dependents' claims 33 were granted pensions, ' eleven allowances, five declined, and two adjourned. The anpual value of tlie pensions granted last week was £0345, an increase of £19,053 to tho annual liability for the May period so far. - During the month of April the amount added to the yearly liability was £31,141). At March 31 the gross liability was £270,000, aud at the present time about £402,712. From that must be deducted £BOOO for expired and discontinued pensions and allowances.
