At the Australian Methodist' Conference Dr. Fitchett moved that it is the duty of the Christian Church to discover and assess |the moral causes of the war lor the guidance of the Methodist Church. This was followed by a series of resolutions recording tile conference's judgment thereon. These resolutions declare that there is '-.•erwhelming proof that the guilt rests on Germany and Austria, that the fight is one of honor against dishonor, truth again: falsehood, love against hate, the eiliics of Christianity against the ethics of paganism; that it is essentially a spiritual war which will be decided b; spiritual forces, and that right under the reign of the God of Eighteousness must prevail against unrighteousness; that as a result of the war the political ideals and methods of all nations will be lifted to a higher level and the laws of God have a new authority in mutual affairs. Tho conference decided to change the title of "local preacher" to "lay preacher," also that the New South Wales Conference meet tho New Zealand Conference and provide an exchange for the Rev. Mr, Sims.
