SERIOUS FOOD RIOT. SUPPRESSED BY TROOPS. , I Received May 27, 5.5 p.m. Madrid, May 26. S riot is Lisbon, lasting for four days, !was due to syndicalists and the working glasses resenting the sudden increase in the prices of bread and potatoes. Provision shops were sacked, including 4S btlonging to Spaniards. Serious damage Was caused to private property. (The riote were suppressed, under martial Jaw, by the energetic action of the troops. The casualties amounted to 25 killed and 150 wounded. Three hundred arrests were made, whereof eighty Were .women. •• II is Stajted that the Monarchial party wftS in no wise responsible, and that the piot had no political significance, being due solely to economic distress.
