THE PATRIOTIC FUNDS.

EFFORT BY THE PIERROTS. A meeting of the New Plymouth Pierrots was held in the Soldiers' Club last night to consider the question of augmenting the funds of the New Plymouth Committee. Thcro was a good attendance, Mr. H. Brookiniui presiding. His Worship the Mayor (chairman of lha'Patriotic Society) attended the meeting, and explained the requirements of the committee, and the necessity for a considerable sum of money being raised if the work of the committee, and the Mayoress' committee, was to bo carried on. This money was not for the Y.M.C.A., or for the front, The local funds for providing local needs, and for tl.e men in camp and on the transports, were getting low, and needed strengthening. After Mi'. Burgess retired, it was unanimously resolved that,the Pierrots undertake to raise a minimum of £4OO.

C. Ward, J. Clarke, L. Hoffmann, L. B. AVebster, F. Hooker, ~ Openshaw, P, Boyd, H. Street, J. H. Hill, A. E. Watkins, -r- Thompson, R. ,1.
