BREACH OF GAMING ACT.
OFFER OF WAR CERTIFICATES. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington. Last Xiglit. A Wellington firm, to commemorate the opening of new premises, exhibited a notice in its show window that it would giv§ a war loan certificate to every hundredth customer recorded in the cash register. An information under the Gaming Act was laid, a,nd the Magistrate's Court, on December 8 last, charged the firm with commencing a lottery. Mr. Reid, S.M.. reserved his decision, and gave judgment to-day. He was satisfied the defendants commenced ft lottery, and he inflicted a fine of 1410 a and costs.
