MILITARY SERVICE.
THE RAILWAY MEN., By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night.
The question of securing the 150 men tha Railway 'Department was considered to have promised to release was to-day before the Third Wellington Military Service Board. After a long r .scussion the chairman, Mr. Read, said an understanding had been arrived at with Mr. McVilly, who agreed to hand over, as the result of his second ballot, 200 men, the whole 400 to be medically examinod as soon as possible, the result of the military examination to bo at once put before the board, when the 150 men will 'be taken by the board for military purposes, the department to Inform the board on June 7 hotw many additional men can be spared and the corresponding number of appeals to be withdrawn. Mr. McVilly will make endeavors to release those who have volunteered, those released to be credited against the 150 now promised.
