THE DAIRYING INDUSTRY.
To the Editor. Sir, —I notice iu a recent issue that Mr. Waiter Powdrell lias answered to the 'best of his ability my letters on the position o£ the dairy industry. I should like to point out to this gentleman that sarcasm and .piffle, as he calls it, is considered by decent people bad form and linbccniniug a man in his position. Walter Potfdrell must not forget that he is not the only man in Tarnnaki by a long way; also, he holds most of iiis positions by the votes of his fellow dairy farmers, and when we are cut after information a3 to why the repeated failures in all our negotiations conducted by our head men, ve are not to be side tracked, but those responsible will bo replaced by better men, Because there in no unity or head to the dairy farmers every time they have gone down to see the Minister on butter tax, etc,, they have failed, and because the coalminers and wharf laborers arc united they call dictate their own terms, and paralyse the whole country, and the same Minister gives way. No, my friend, we don't want any moro bluff. The 'National Dairy Association wants reorganising, the freezing works at main ,ports want trebling, tho financial position placed on a strong, elastic basis; and when you see pigs sold at Hawera at 2s each on May S, what's wrong? Time is short. What is going to be done for next season? Let's get to work! —I am, etc., WILLIE J, EREETH Pukearuhe, May 19.
