PROSPECTS FOR THE WINTER.
STORMY, WET WEATHER PREDICTED. Abnormal disturbances aro taking place in the sun at present, according to Mr. Clemenb L. Wragge, the wellknown meteorologist. Ho stater, that, as the sun is the great magnet which pulls and deflects the "magnetic bar'' of this earth, which joins the North and South ;Poles, there is every reason to believe that the coming winter will, on the whole, De stormy and wet. He also -predicto that the succeeding spring will witness an abundance of rain with electrical disturbances. "The existing unsettled weather." said Mr. Wragge yesterday, "is certainly due to the ethcric cr wireless pull of the sun, and the present disturbances will prove more marked, with increased latitude south from Auckland. Thus we may expect to hoar of stormy weather, with much rain and snow, especially over the South Island. "There are indications, however, that the conditions will shortly improve, as the existing sun-storms are becoming negative. We may, therefore, hope for an narl,+ rise in the barometer. That the sun is the great dynamo that controls the seasons of this earth, by magnetic influence, there is 110 doubt whatever, and the recent display of the Aurora Australis was directly due to solar upheavals/'
