BREACH OF PROMISE.

VERDICT FOR £IOO. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night At the Supreme. Court, Agnes Adela Marrayat, of Milton, sued Eric Moen, of Dunedin, bank clerk, for £SOO damages for breach of promise. The plaintiff stated that defendant became engaged to the plaintiff at the end of 1913. Defendant gave plaintiff an engagement ring in 1914, after he was 21 years of age. He left for the front in October, 1915, and returned wounded in December, 1916. While absent he kept up correspondence, but on his return he informed plaintiff that he wished to terminate the engagement as he had found someone else he liked better. He demanded his release, but plaintiff refused. She acted as his attorney during bis absence. Defendant's counsel admitted the facts, except the statement that he had found anyone he liked better. Plaintiff was awarded £IOO and costs.
