EFFICIENCY BOARD.

MEETING OF NEW PLYMOUTH TRUSTEES-. A mooting of the National Efficiency Board cf Trustees was hold at New Plymouth yesterday, when there were present: Messrs T.' Fuiilong, jr. (chairman), E. Whittle and F. J. Hill (secretary). A considerable amount of correspondence was dealt with. Mr, O'Donnell, of Tongaporutu, is to be thanked for his offer of assistance. The provincial secretary wrote, forwarding a letter from Mr. T. Moss, district commissioner, Wellington, expressing appreciation of the action of the principal of the New Plymouth High School (Mr. Moyes) in placing at the commissioner's disposal from SO to 100 .boys for harvesting work next season. He also warmly approved of the suggestion of the> local board as to a central bureau for receiving applications from those willing to relieve reservists.

Mr. Buckeridge (Eltham) also wrote in connection with the above, offering to receive- names of those willing to relieve reservists. Mr. W. Ferguson, chairman of the Wellington Board, notified Cabinet's approval of the appointment of Messrs Furlong, Whittle and Hill as trustees. Mr. Moss forwarded a letter from a soldier who had been discharged as unfit from camp, and who had been manager of two- sheep stations, asking for assistance in obtaining employment oh a farm.—Referred to the provincial secretary at Eltham. Mr. A. H. Gibson wrote offering to assist -he committee as he was in communication with a number of married men who 'ere prepared to undertake milking on shares»-»-Mr. Gibson is to be thanked for his letter, ,i copy of which is to be sent to the provincial secretary. Mr. Whittle brought > the question of circulating the "Town and Industries Card." The chairman and secretary were deputed to deal with the matter. In connection with a e-mmUnication from Mr. Murdoch, cha.'rman of the Taranaki Board, relative to the payment of expenses -of members of the 'Board of Trustees in attending meetings, it was decided that, except in the case of specially heavy expenses, tho members should bear their own expenses, any specially heavy expenses to be noted for consideration. The National Efficiency Eoard asked the trustees to communicate with solicitors, accountants and auditors with a view to securing their assistance in any matters which may arise in connection with the affairs of soldi.'rs whose interests have- to be cared for by the trustees. It is believed that professional gentlemen -will gladly co-operate in this national and patriotic work, and advise or otherwise assist the trustees as occasion may arise.
