CORRESPONDENCE.
OIL WELLS.
To the Editor Sir, —I see a shareholder of the N.Z. Oil Wells Company, Ltd., is asking a few straight questions cont-rning the above company. I seo the Minister of Mines visited the N.Z. Oil Wells and was met by the manager, and shown figures which proved that shallow wells could be made payable, so the company must exist Docs it not seem >t>. great pity and loss of time and good money to have, worked at No./2 so long and it still is just' about the same old depth? Jfc would 'be very interesting to know what precautions havo been taken when passing, through the oil-producing strata to prevent flooding the strata to be met with in shallow bores. This is an important question in ease of a company putting down shallow wlh.—- 1 am, etc., A SHAREHOLDER.
