For the year ending July, 11)10, 36(1 permits were issued. Considering the gravo war position, this was not only incongruous but intolerable. The Government was united in its determination to effect'a substantial reduction, which would begin on August 1. Tho Government was considering the question carefully, and probably the racing and tr6tting conferences would be consulted regarding tho allotment of the permits available.
