A QUARTERMASTER'B CQNFKSSIONi' By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night. At the inquest on the body of Quartermaster Quinn, who committed »uiicide by shooting this morning, tho evidence showed that the bullet entered the right temple and pasacd out of the left temple. Defeased bad been quartermaster sergeant on a certain transport for about two years. A letter was found on deceased, addressed to the coroner, stating that deceased intended to commit suicide, and asking that the verdict "temporarily insane" m not returned. It also stated: "If you jrill com- * municate with the Miniiter of Defence, and tell him that all shortages on (naming the transport) are my fault through my own neglect, it will save a good man, Captain T. Buxton, from trouble." The inquest.was adjourned to enable Captain Buxton to give evidence. A board, consisting of Colonel Strong, Lieutenant-Colonel Frederic and Major F. Shand, opened a military enquiry at Port Chalmers into the allegations made recently by Dr. Bedford in respect of the sales of stores by members of the' crew of a certain transport. It is understood (says the Otago Times) that Dr. Bedford was present at the enquiry, but from what can be gathered the board had great difficulty in eliciting any tofor-., mation from the witnesses called.
