Brown, widow of the lato Dr. Brown, formerly of Hawera, died at Auckland last weekl For some year* she had resided n Auckland. Latterly she-hM suffered terribly from illness.
Mr. L. Mo.vlc, clerk in the New Plymouth, Magistrate's Court, has resigned his position owing to ill-health, and will shortly leaye for Auckland. He will fco succeeded hove, by Mr. Egarr, at .present of the head office in Wellington.
A very old settlor, Mrs. Sam Diion, of Hawera, died, at Wanganui East oa Friday. She was associated with various social and religions matters in the Hawera district during the past 37 years,, she having arrived in Hawera from Patea in March, 1880. On Friday morning she wag driven from Hawera to Wanganui East by car, and enjoyed the. journey. However, about three hours afterwards, while sitting at the table with her daughter, she quietly passed away.
The death has occurred of tho Rev. Father John Francis O'Donnell. paltor ~ in charge of tho Queenstown-Arrow Ro- i man Catholic Church for the past; fcU years. Born in 1852, in County UmeTjck, Ireland, Father O'Donnell was educated at Mount Molleray Seminary,, conducted by the Trappist Brothers, aiid at All Hallows College, Dublin, studying classing at Mount Mclloray and theology at All Hallows. Ho was ordained priest in I'BB9 at All Hallows College, and came out to Dunedin with, the late Bishop Moran in October of the came year. Hu became curate at Milton in November, 1889, and continued till Juno, 1803. Fajther O'Donnell was a zealous parish priest, who won the affections of his people. He had many friends also ouct&jde his own church, and waa univenally; respected.
