OBITUARY.
MRS. DEVENISH,
ThWe passed away yesterday one ot the oldeßt residents of New Plymouth Mrs. Devenish, who was throughout hei , life greatly esteemed and respected. Tin deceased lady, who had'reached the ripe 1 age of 87 was the eldest dnughtet of, the late Thomas Hirst of New Plymonth, formerly of Halifax-, Yorkshire. Mrs. Devenish became a widow compare, tively early in life, and leaves two daughters and two sons to mourn h*r lon. namely, Mrs. W. Skinner (formerly ot New Plymouth and now of Christchjireh), Miss Devenish, who has always lived with her molher, the Rev. J. M. Devonish, of Tasmania, and Mr. Wm. Deveni ish, collector of customs at Nelson. She is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Lewis Hammerton (Inglewood), Mrs A. B, Fookcs (New Plymouth), Miss Hirst (England), and by a brother, Mr. Thos< Hirst (England),,
