The Wairarapa Farmers' Co-operative Association, Ltd., stock department, report on their autumn cattle fair, held on Thursday, 3rd instant, as under:— Wo offered 3200 head, and, generally speaking, the yarding was a record for the Wairarapa. The quality all round was exceptionally good, and the manner in which the cattle were drafted was favorably commented on by buyers. The attendance was very large, buyers from a distance being prominent, including Gisbcrne, Hawke's Bay. Taranaki, Maniwatu and Wanganui, whilst the Wairarapa was strongly represented. A heavy fog early in the morning was responsible for a "bo.v," which delayed matters somewhat, but selling commenced at 11 a.m. and finished at 4.50 p.m.
Our competitors kindly placed thenyards at our disposal, and an experiment was made by offering the female cattle and the young steers at one and the same time, to complete the sale before dark, and 011 the whole appeared to give satisfaction.
Business at auction was animated for all classes with the.exception of grown steers in low condition, and a highly successful sale lias to be reported. All classes, especially bullocks with condition, sold readily, and the demand for young cattle was especially keen.
