DISTRICT NEWS.

OMATA. (From Our Own Correspondent. l Many interesting letters have lately been arriving for the Omata Sewing Guild from Omata men :it the front who express their great pleasure at having received parcels from the Guild. These were special Christmas parcels, ami the men were delighted at being re.ii'inb'reJ by their old friends at (lOine. Dr'-'er L. Lepper, Lance-Corpora! Sid Qll iokfa 11, and Private J. Walsh wri'.e. from France, and Privates Les. McAUum, W. I.ovoridge and J. Crompton from Codford. Almost all mention tho extreme cold in France and England, and venture to hope they will be home for next Christinas. The men in France ha&.been having a spell from the front trenches, and these in England were Poking forward to getting to France very short'v. < For months past parcels for general distribution, sent through the N.PW.P.C. have also been acknowledged by grateful recipients. In this connection, to correct a misapprehension, I should like to mention that since April 191G, the guild has donated £2 per month towards tin Soldiers' Gift Parcels, thereby being entitled to send each month 16 parcels. In each parcel is enclosed the. name of a member of the Guild, the names being taken in rotation from the list of regular subscribes, whether working or honorary members. § Letters of thanks for paic/i received have reached several hj*otary members during the last few months. Thus it will be seen that in addition to being associated with the working members in supplying hospital requis-'fv? for our sick and wounded, the outside number also has a parcel sent in her own name as it occurs on tho list. In vi > ? of the pressing need for food coniform at the present time, the Guild will be very grateful for donations towards their special food comforts fund.
