ECONOMY ESSENTIAL.

SHIPPING DISLOCATION LIKELY. ACTING PREMIER'S WARNING. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christcliurch, Last Night. Sir. James Allen told a reporter to-day tliat he would like to send a message to the people of the Dominion to make up their minds to begin now to act with the strictest economy in everything. "I do not want to be an alarmist, or say anything to create a panic," he said, "but it is only right to stato that there is reason to take precautions against a further dislocation of our shipping. Furtheir shipping restrictions may mean that all availalj'e space must be used exclusively for dealing with foodstuffs and absolute necessities, and, if it comes to this, the people wiil have to get along ■without things they think are necessities at the present time."
