WHANGAMOMONA COUNTY COUNCIL.
\ MONTHLY MEETING. The Whangamomona Comity Council met on Monday. Present: Crs.'W. A. McCutcheon (chairman), M. O'Neill, N. R. Clelaiul, M. Grcover, ff. McLean, T. 11. Mounsey, A. Coyne, raid J. McChiggage. The engineer was instructed to assess proportion of cqpt of repairing Wliangamomona road, which will lie charged to Kolniratahi and Putikikura roads. Repairs are to be effected on the Nuncatt and Tapimi bridges, and engineer's recommendations re repairs to bridges and flood openers in Central Riding to be attended to as soon as possible.. Considerable discussion ensued on the curtailed railway traffic. Councillors recognised that the Department was faced with considerable dillieulties in running trains, but it was also felt that the present system was decidedly harsh 011 settlers -and others travelling in the district. Eventually a motion by Crs. McCluggagc and O'Neill was carried, "that the Council considers tlie minimum service to give adequate traffic facilities for goods and passengers is 0110 train per day each way, including an early morning train from Stratford one day a week, and Tuesday's train from Whangamomona to reach Stratford before 110011.
The following general rates were struck:—Stratford Riding, 2Jd in the £; Pohokura Riding, 2}d; Central Riding, 3d: Taliora, 2Jd. Tlio Taliora Riding was granted a contribution cf CiftO towards the cost of construction of the second bridge in th.i township, and a sum not exceeding .-CKW is to be expended in repairing the Olmra road with the irradcr.
