THE CHERNIAVSKY CONCERT.
It was evident by the very large audience that assembled in the Good Templar Hall last night that the last visit of the talented Cherniavsky Brothers—about two years ago—had not been forgotten, but that the great treat then afforded the music lovers of our community had been treasured as a very pleasant memory, as on that occasion the audience not only crowded every part of the building, but was equally appreciative and enthusiastic in its reception of the various well-chosen and admirably-played items.
J The recital opened with a trio for pianoforte, violin and 'cello, which was a decided artistic success, and was warmly applauded. This was followed by a 'cello solo in which Mischel Cherniavsky played Sclmman's "Evening Song," Herbert's "Serenade," and topper's "Tarantello. The wonderful tone produced completely captivated the audic-nce, and the artist responded to an imperative encore with a gavotto by Popper. Mr. Jan Chorniavslcy was similarly successful with his pianoforte solos, a nocturne, a valse and polonaise by Chopin, his encore number being a valse by the same composer. Mr. Leo's violin solos wore "Nocturne" (Chopin), a Russian mazurka, and the "Carnival© de Russe," and he, also, scored a great success. After another finely-played trio, likewise encored, the very enjoyable concert concluded with the Russian. French and British national anthems.
