KABOTU. (From Our Own Correspondent.) There om a large assemblage at the hall on Anrae Day, when a. very impressive united service was lipid in memory of our fallen soldiers of f!;iliipoli aw} elcowhej-e. Hymns were sunn' from the Anglican and Methodist hvmnbooks. Mrs. T. Hnghson. junr.. presiding nt the organ. which was urapcel uitii the K'cw Zealand fog, Special prayer? were read 'by the Rev. C!osnell. Methodist minister. The Hev. Standi, Presbyterian minister, gave a very powerf.il and impressive add'-ess, Its having lost two brothers in tlie Jutland battle and nine other relations in other theatres of the mwfu! conlliet. Air. Hi;gh>ori senr., spolce v>r a few moments, a vicing the congregation to ?tand for a time with bowed heads in memory of the Anzacs, Corporal Looney, Pte. J. Keasbury. and others who have made the supreme sacrifice, namely, Trooper f'ibson. Privates Smith .and Petre. Mr. Ilnghson said he was glad there was or.e Anzae amongst them that dc f-'hort portions were read from the Bible by 'Messrs (!. Gibson (Anglican) and T. Hughson, jun. (Methodist). A trio was sung very feelingly by the llev. Gosnell and Messrs Manning and T. Hughson, jun. A collection was ■ token up to provide funds to enable every soklier leaving the district to have a farewell and little memento of Raliotu given them when on furlough. The F.evvice concluded with the singing of the National Anthem. It is hard to realised that the Kahui Road East alone has sent as many as twenty boys awov to tight for their country. These aro all young working men or sons of struggling hush farmer.;.
T.he afternoon tee. was well patronised on gnle day, and in the evening pingpong, cards, and a dance were held in aid of the Wounded Soliders' Fund.
The local factory is still vorkfng every day,, and the warm weather, with nice refreshing shower.-, makes the grass grow like springtime.
