The subsidy due to the Hawera Hospital Board is expected to be £lßs an increase of £3l on last year. Notices are to be served on the owners bf twp premises to cither improve or demolisli same. • An application to remit registration fees on dogs belonging to returned soldiers was disallowed, the council having r.o power to remit fees. The gas manager reported that during the year 526 tons of coal were carbonised, making 6,000,000 cubic feet of gas. Twenty-two new consumers had been added, whilst the price had been reduced fld per 1000 feet, tho second reduction during the war period. Compared with tho previous year, 812,050 cubic feet of gas more had been manufactured.
