GENERAL. Mr? McHugh, of Marnia, who recent 1;/ went Homo to offer her services to tue Voluntary Sisterhood, has been accepted and is actively engaged in assisting in the management of the new Y.M.C'.A. Club room at Walton-on-Thames. Another Hawera lady who •! assisting there is Miss Ballantvne. At Hawera Post Office on Wednesday morning the staff assembled to say farewell to Mr Bert Kemp, who has been transferred to the New Zealand office. The postmaster (Mr O'CaUaghan), in referring to the good-fellowship that had always existed between them. ' Mr and Mrs Godfrey, who have been residents in Hawera lor Mine :;me no>v, and are leaving to make' their home at Tauranga, were the recipients of a handsome epergne from their many friends. On Wednesday afternoon, while a taxi turning in Princess street, it eame in contact with a gig, with the result that the gig was seriously damaged, but, fortunately, the occupallts iseaped injury.
