Mr. B. Kemp, who has been on the staff of the Hawera Post Office for many years, has been transferred to New Plymouth.
Mrs. Bnsliford, of Hawcra, received word from the Base Recprds Oflico that her husband (Trooper J. D. Bashford) was severely wounded in the right arm. A Sydney cablegram reports the death of Mr. Henry Carey Dangar, a Legislative Councillor, a prominent pastoralist and horse breeder. Lieutenant D. A. Tho death is announced from Wanganui of Mr. K. C. Bruce, at one time M.H.R. for Rangitikei. The deceased was a descendant of tho famous Robert Bruce, King of Scotland.

Miss Hilda Drake, who has for the past 15 months' been clerk to the Weber County Council, has accepted the position of chief olerk in the office of Mr. Connoil (accountant and auditor), Palmerston North, and will take up her now duties about the middle of May. Miss Drake was formerly accountant to tho New Plymouth Sash and Door Company. The Hon. J. A. Hanan, Minister for Education and Justice, accompanied by Or. W. J. Anderson, Director of Education, and Mr. F. M. Sherwood, arrived by mail train last night. They were met on arrival by Mr. 11. Okey, M.P.', 'Mr. R. Masters (chairman of the Education Board), and Mr. S. G. Smith, (-chairman of school committee). Cable advice has been received that Flight Lieutenant J. H. Cock, of Nelson, who has been on service in France, is missing. Lieutenant Cock enlisted in the Main Body, and was seriously wounded on Gra-llipcli. On his recovery he re-enhsted and left New Zealand with a later reinforcement draft for France, where he, was again wounded. On receiving his discharge from tiie N.Z.E.F. iio entered the Flying Service, and has (been in France again for some time.
A recent casualty list contains the following:—Previously reported wounded and missing, now reported killed in action: Private E. E. Harrison (Mrs. 10. A. Harrison, ICapuni, mother); Private D. E. Thoumine (P. Thouinine, Ka-. ponga, father); Private 11. Robinson (H. Robinson, New Plymouth, father I. Died of wounds: Trooper C. Hughes (Kapuiy). In a hospital progress repovl the case of Private R. K. Hollard (Hawera) is amongst those not reported as severe.
