RELIGIOUS OBJECTORS.
ADDITIONAL REGULATIONS,
Wellington, April 24. A Gazette extraordinary to-night eontains additional regulations under the Military Service Act regarding religious objectors.
(1) In these regulations "religious objector" means a reservist who has been called for service under the Military Service Act, 1010, or been required to show cause why he should not be called for service under the Act, and whoso appeal to the Military Service Board has been allowed on the ground specified in paragraph E of section 18 of that Act.
(2) The non-combatant work or services required from religious objector.-; shall be such non-combatant work or services in the employment of the Government as may from time to time be required of him by the Commandant or by an officer of the public service authorised in that behalf by the Commandant either generally or in respect of any specified religious objector. (3) Every religious objector employed ori non-combatant work or services shall be paid therefor at the rate of 5s a day and, in addition, receive such lodging and rations and be entitled to such allowances as are provided from time to time for private soldiers of the force (4) A religious objector shall not be compelled to wear a uniform. (5) A Military Service Board shall notjillow an appeal on the ground set out% paragraph E of section IS of the Act of 'l9lO, unless the reservist sign-., an undertaking signifying his willingness to perform non-combatant services* Clause II of the regulations under the Act, 1910, on October 10, 1910, is revoked.
