(From Our Own Correspondent.) [All communications, letters, etc., left with Mr. J. Hopkins, bookseller, will receive prompt attention.] BOROUGH COUNCIL ELECTIONS. P J April 23. Two or tlie candidates for municipal honors addressed the burgesses in. the street on Saturday evening. The Mayor occupied the chair (in this instance the seat of a motor car) and appealed to the crowd to give Messrs. J. H, Ford and Smith a Tair hearing. The first mentioned was the principal speaker and made the most of his opportunities, touching on matters of interest to voters and also introducing his views on the wan, etc. The electric light and the miniiraui'. chargo was closely scanned' and those present were left with no doubts in their mind as to Mr. Ford's view of the matter. Mr. Smith briefly touched on similar subjects, after v.-hkli the meeting dispersed, with votes of tluinks to the speakers and the Mayor. AN2AC DAY. To-day the town was very quiet. Excepting iiotels and chemists the town was not open foi; business, and judging by the deserted appearance of the streets there was little doinj^ Pupils attending the Stratford school this afternoon were addressed by Mr. J. W. 'McMillan, chairman of the school committee, on the occasion of Aimc Day. Tlie speaker touched on the glorious deeds, now a matter of history, made by the colonial troops in Gallipo'li, and how these heroic actions will never lade from memory. Lieutenant Bowler and a large number of cadets paraded, (lie flag wait saluted), and after singing j the National Anthem the ceremony coneluded.

To-night the Anzae memorial service will be held in the Town Ilall Prior tn the si-rvint ti'.e Town Band will head a profession of territorials and cadets, who will .march through Broadway to the Town Hail. At a meeting of the secondary department of the Stratford School staff today it was nuanimously resolved to keep the school open on Saturdays for pupils coming from the South. ThM means that scholars from botli ends will be able to get throe full days in each week from the South on Tuesdays Thursdays., and Saturdays, and tvom tho North Mondays, Wednesdays, nnd Fridays.

Tho second round of the Callistite fyin (clay birds) will be shot at Messrs. volson find Green's paddocks, on Tlmnday. Harris' trophy (watch) will also be competed for during the afternoon Mr. W. R.
