But since he did not become a member of the reserve until later., when he attained the required age, it might be argued that lie is now a Second Division man. The chairman of the board stated that the point wquld be referred to it conference of chairmen of Military Service Boards, ,to be held in Wellington, this week. Probably the opinion of the So-licitor-General would be sought.
Hie danger of leaving a horse, attached to a trap, standing with the reins tied to tlio wheels was illustrated in an allej'way alongside a local 'wheelwright's shop on Saturday. A Maori, who had purchased % new, heavy spring trap brought his horse in and gave the coachbuilder instructions to have all ready liy 3 p.m., as he was in a hurry; 3.30 p.m. arrived and no Maori, the horse became restive and started to back. The further lie went the further he had to go, as the revolution of the wheel tightened the reins, until finally he landed at the bottom of the alleyway on hia side with the tart on top of him. Beyond badly broken reins tee turn-out escaped injury. A gig that had juat been painted was not so as the backing cart came in contact with it smashing the front bpard and badly scratching the paint.
