TURKISH DETACHMENT DEFEATED. | PRACTICALLY WIPED OUT. Received April 23, 0,30 p.in, London, April 22. An official message from Mesopotamia states that the enemy force which " General Mpde defeated and practically wiped out on the 18tli was the Turkish detachment on the left bank of the Ti-I gris, not, as previously cabled, the right flank on the right bank of the Tigris. Opposite the northern flunk of the enemy's Istabulat position, wo advanced a mile on the night of the lflth-20th. We captured part of the front line or the Istabulat position, making prisonera of 230. An Egyptian oflicial message sayi: The consolidated ground gained is now in contact with the enemy main position covering.
