In sheepskins 2350 were offered, of which 2184 were Australasian. Tliere was a good attendance and competition, and an all-round advance of 2d to 3d, which was sopecially noticeable for combing Merinos. Butter.—Danish is in supply, nut weak at about 200s; Australian declined: during the week, owing to a largo prospective supply, but recovered 4s on commandeering,, and is now nominally JOSs to 100s; business is almost at a standstill pending further information; New Zealand, sold at, about 200s. Cheese.—Firm; Canadian, 102s. The trade expects that the Canadian output will bo, requisitioned. Sugar.—Unchanged. VICTORIAN MARKETS. Melbourne, April 20. The Department of Agriculture.- Industries and Commerce has received the following cablegram, dated London. April 14, 1017, from the. High Commissioner for New Zealand. (Note: Quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average .nmrket prices on spot): Meat.—Even although Argontine mutton and lamb, are in fair supply, prices are higher owing to continued small supplies of New Zealand mutton and lamb and Australian lamb. Lower prices are being accepted for good supplies of home-killed mutton and beef and Argentine beef. New Zealand mutton, per lb, B%d; ewe mutton, B%d; Argentine mutton, heavy-weight, 123 d, light-weight 122 d; New Zealand lamb, 10d; Argentine lamb, 14Jd;. Argentine chilled beef, binds lid, fores !)}d. Maximum prices.—Following maximum prices fixed during the next two weeks: Danish butter and finest NewZealand salted butter (mutilated word here), 2205; Dutch.creamery, Australian, Irish creamery and American croamery, 2145; Argentina 210.^., Butter.—Maximum prices remain unchanged. The market is easier, partly owing to good supplies of Australian and Danish.
