RUA PERJURY CHARGES.
AGED MAORI'S EVIDENCE. By Telegraph, Specie to News. Hamilton, Last Night, i During the hearing of -the perjury charges against natives at the' Supreme Court to-day, nn aged Mjiflisi, named j Paul Kingi, whom one of the witnesses, for the Crown alleged fired' the first j shot at Run's pa on April 2, lttlfi, made] a statement of denial. His left arm is, now useless, as a result iiredj by the police. Under cross-examination, he admitted having signed**. letter the Governor, stating that if an attempt were made to arrest Rua a 6hot would be fired. Witness said he signed it because he wanted to communicate with his friend .the Governor, as be might have given him some good advice. Witness said ho was at the battle of Orakau, but did, not participate in iti, and denied fighting for Te Kooti.
