UNOPPOSED RETURNS. • ißy Telegraph.—'Press Association. Hawera, April 18. ' Mr. E. Dixon, the retiring Mayor, has been re-elected unopposed. Inglewood, April 18. Mr. George Young, who has already served four years in the mayoral chair, was elected unopposed for a further term. The nominations for the council include two sitting councillors, two exMayors, and business people. Wanganui, April 18. Messrs. Veitch, M.P., and MTCay (the present Mayor) have besn nominated fir* the Mayoralty. There are thirteen candidates for twelve council Beats. NEW PLYMOUTH NOMINATIONS. |' \ Nominations closed yesterday for. the election of Mayor, eight Borough Councillors, two representative* for the New Plymouth District on the Harbor Board, and three representatives to the New Plymouth Hospital and Charitable Aid Board. Save in the Mayoral election, there will be contests. THE MAYORALTY. Mr. C. H. Burgess, the retiring Mayor, has been returned unopposed for the ensuing term of two years. THE COUNCIL. For the eight seats on the council ten nominations have been received, viz., Messrs 0. W. Browne, .Tas. Clarke, W. ; A. Collis, R. J. Deare, E. Griffiths, J. M. Hayden, F. J. Hill, W. F. Short, E. H. Tribe, and A. E. Watkinß. Of these, Messrs W. A. Collis, fc. Griffiths,' J. W. Hayden, F. J. Hill, W. F. Short, and A. E. Wnckins are members of tlio; present council. Messrs Jas. Clarke and G. W. Browne are former members of the council, whilst Messrs R. J. Deare and E. H. Tribe arc new aspirants for. municipal honors. Of the present council, which consists of twelve members,, Messrs J. T. Mannix, L. to. Monteath;! J. S. S. Medley, A. H: Johnstone, S.■J. Smith and F. E. Wilson are not sinking re-election. HARBOR BOARD. Three nominations have been receive* for the two seats on the Harbor Board, viz., Messrs C. E. Bellringer, J, S k Connctt and Jas. McLeod. The firstnamed is a member of the present board, whilst the last two are contesting the seat for the first time,, Mr. J. B. Connett, the present chairman, is not seeking re-election. HOSPITAL BOARD. Five nominations liavt been received for the three seats, viz., Mrs Dockrill, Messrs E. R. C. Gilmour, C: M. Lep» per, W. P. Nicoll and A. E. Watklns. Mrs. Dockrill is the only present member seeking re-election. Mr. C. M. Lepper was formerly chairman and then secretary of the board, Messrs E. R. C. Gilmour and A. E. Wat-kins contested tne election previously, whilst M 4 r. W. P. Nicoll is a fresh aspirant.
