HOME SERVICE.

DIVISION OF EXPEDITIONARY JX)RCE, AN ADMINISTRATIVE CHANGE. iFrom Our Own Correspondent.) Wellington, April 13. The Commandant of the New Zealand Forces has decided to give effect to clause 37 of the Military Service Acb, which provides that the Expeditionary Force may be divided into such '.units and other divisions as he may think fit. The force is to be divided into two branches —the Foreign Service Branch, and the Heme Service Branch. The new arrangement will take effect as from November 23rd. 1016 The administrative change will assist the Defence authorities to use the recruits at theii disposal to the best advantage. Every ballot is producing a certaiu number of recruits who arc medically unfit for service in the field, but who are capable of undertaking variou* military duties in this country. These men are being drafted into the home service section and it is intended to relieve for active service as many as possible of the fit men who have been undertaking necessary work at the military camp: and elsewhere. Home service men will be on the same footing as regards pay and discipline as men who are. drafted into the foreign service branch. The change is important chiefly on the administrative side, though if offers some possibilities for further developments.
