SHOOTING SENSATION.
EX-PRISONER AND WARDER. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Hamilton, April 18. A sensational shooting affair is reported from To Awamulu. II appears that about 7 o'clock last night a man was seen prowling around the Waikereia Prison by a Native prisoner. The latter approached the man' who threatened him with two revolvers if he eani? any nearer. He informed the Native he was not after him, but was after enc of the tvarders. The Native then informed the warders, after which he again came out in search of the man, who it is alleged fired at him with the revolver ami disappeared into the scrub and darkness. A search was made by the warders, but so far without success. Tlic police are now scouring the district for the man, who is believed to be an ex-prisoner.
