INVASION POSSIBILITY.
DESPERATE GERMAN HOPE, London, Maxell 27. The situation of Germany is regarded as decorate by Colonel Repington, the military correspondent of the London Times. Owing to the Allies' accentuated .strength, be discounts the possibility of the enemy attacking either the east or the west front. The overwhelming British superiority in field and machine-gnus, he savs, is likely to repulse any offensive with overwhelming losses, rendering it impossible for Germany to continue the war. The invasion of the British Isles must not be overlooked, because the navy is the only great German war weapon which has so far not been used in the largei! sense. A successful invasion and a •• ly blow at the heart of the. alliance offers the only visibltj-escape from a desperate sit nation. Germany obviously hoped to escape sacrificing her navy, thinking that her armies would be victorious. As this hope recedes only the conviction that failure would be inevitable would prevent au attempted invasion.
