TOTE IN AUSTRALIA. DISTRIBUTION OF FUNDS. Sydney, April 12. The Chief Secretary, in a sympathetic reply, promised Cabinet consideration to representations of country racing clubs in favour of a more liberal percentage of totalisator funds. Jt was stated that unless the present 3 per cent, allowance is increased the totalisator will not pay the clubs and the machine will never be popularised in the country. It was suggested that the Government should take 7 per cent, out of the turnover, instead of out of the profits. f
SYDNEY SHOW SALES. DRAUGHT AND BLOOD STOCK. Sydney, Anvil 12. At the Show sales Messrs. Mitchell's and O'Brien's Clydesdale mares'wore in keen demand, and ranged from 75 to lOC guineas. The top figure for yearlings was brought by a Malt King colt, which sold at 500 guineas. A Martian—Celgus colt, and a Hollowmas— I'rasseul filly, on behalf of Mr. Higliden, of Palmerston North, brought 410 and 150 guineas re. spectively.
