STRAFING THE REAL ENEMY.
To the Editor. Sir —ln answer to "Pro Bono Publico" and "The Sportsman," I should like to make the following comments: It is costing me just £2l) per year to help keep a. home together that has been wrecked by drink. ' If you capitalise £2l) at a per cent, you will find I havo £101) locked up by Bung and Co. for which I get absolutely nothing. What I pay indirectly heaven only knows. Then I have the unpleasant faet always before me that if the law of the land had not privileged certain individuals to tip the elbow and say, "Here's luck;, old nan!" 1 should have been worth thbusands to-day. Then te look at the matter in another light—what kind of a distinction should be given to a woman who has had to live for 24) years with a drunken husband? The heroism and sacrifico of such a life is worthy in many, cases of twenty Victoria Crosses. To show that I am a bit <n a sport. I have been 'breeding racers for the last fewyears, but whilst the war lasts I am pre- j pared to sacrifice the same. Then is it [ not enough to make the angels weep to see iliimg and Co. calling on the churches to pray for the wowsers to join hands and stop the fight! The Trade— ' God bless them! It is the greatest joke ■ of the season, and I am surprised at' inv friend Mr. Sole missing such a point. To finish, T should like to warn "Pro Bono Publico." alias The Trade, that whilst I live I shall never miss a chance to drive the bayonet home. You can parry and guard and squeal for a truce, but the wowser bulldog, has got a crip, and I hope will never leave go until this fair land of ours is cleaned and drv. We are sending the flower of our manhood to fight the foreign foe. Will the flower of our womanhood rise and strafe the worst enemy at home? For it is surely they who do most of the suffering-I am, etc.,
