DISTRICT NEWS.

KAIMATA.

(From Our Own Correspondent.)

A most successful cennis afternoon in aid of the Kaimata Red Cross Fund was held on the Kaimata courts on Easter Monday. A large number was present, including visitors from Inglewood and Tarata, amongst the latter being Mr. Dugald Paterson, a noted Taranaki tennis player, wlio is on linal leave. Despite the threatening aspect of the weather, which considerably damped the spirits of the promoters, the day proved delightfully fine, the slight shower'in the morning having very much improved the court from the players' point of view. As an onlooker I may truthfully add that the games proved both interesting and exciting. Much credit is due to Misses Death, Burkhardt and Giddy, who organised the function, and who, with the assistance of two or three ' more ladies, generously provided afternoon tea, which was very much appreciated by all present.
