A Berne correspondent says that revelations of the systematic brutality of German women of the Red Cross toward British wounded are made by scores. Soldiers of all ranks were released i n German prison camps after a long journey through Germany, and it was the common amusement of these women to tempt the wounded, "who iwere at the last extremity of hunger and thirst, by holding food and drink before then; and then snatch it away. Many begging foi a drink, had coll'tie, water, and soup tendered, but at the last moment the gentle nurse would spit into it. Frequently wounded had their drink defiled, while the women laughed. Another common' entertainment was to offer a, glass of water and then pour it slowly on the ground. Cases of physical maltreatment of the wounded by the German nurses were equally common. They not only refused to attend to their want:), but regularly insulted and spat upon the wounded men, and even struck and kicked the bandaged limbs in order to increase the pain. The correspondent adds: "The truth is the German Bed Cross is merely a branch of militarism; it has desecrated its sacred sign, shamed its name, and forfeited all right to be regarded as an organisation of humanity." CANADIANS' CAPTURES. Washington, April 11. Mr. Simrns, the United Press correspondent, says that the Canadians have taken 3000 prisoners an.l 23 guns.
