Mr. J. McCluggage has been re-'itectul representative for the Stratford and Whangamomona Countv Council on the New Plymouth Harbor Board. The name of Sapper John William Lawlor (M. Lawlor, Egmont Hotel, Ha« «era, sister), appears in the latest cas-i ualty'list.
| The Rev. T. L. Richards, who sum eceds the Rev. C. H. Olds at the Fitzroy Methodist Church, arrived in' New Ply«' mouth last night by the mail train. Messrs W. A. Collis and W. F. Short have acceded to the requests of electors and will seek re-election to the Borough Council. Mr. F. E. Wilson has declined to accept nomination,
Corporal Harold Blackhurne, late of Tarata, who left New Zealand with the Ist Battalion. Rifle Brigade, has cabled advice that he is being sent back to New Zealand at an early date. After seeing mueli fighting in France, Corporal Blackburne was recommended for a commission, and was subsequently ordeied to Worcester College, 0.T.C., where ho has been in training since January last.
[ The Rev. W. A. Sinclair, president of the New Zealand Methodist Conference, who has been appointed to the ehario of the New Tlymouth circuit, was farewelled, with his wife, by the East Belt Methodist Church, and the congregation presented them with a handsome silver centre piece for flowers, and a silver entree dish. Rev. Sinclair will arrive in New Plymouth by the mail train tot night.
''Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife," quoted the maddened husband when he finds his trusted wife alone at Arrow Lodge with her old-time lover. This is a poignant scene in "The Law Decides," but there are other scene* I which arc just as heartbreaking and Ailed with strong emotion. The play is th« best marriage problem drama, that has been filmed for years, and Dorothy Kelly'3 acting in it reaches great height*. She is ravishingly pretty, and does no over acting, but at the same time her appeal is sure to reach everyone. Little Bobby Connolly is a delightful little rogue, and this, being his longest part to date, may> well be described a* a. .triumph,
